Eclipse, an open development platform, has one of largest open source communities across the globe. The Eclipse Rich Client Platform(RCP) is a subset of the platform used to build rich client applications. XMIND is a proud recipient of the 2008 Eclipse Community Award for Best Commercial RCP Application!
XMIND files are generated in XMIND Workbook (.xmap) format, an open format that is based on the principles of OpenDocument. It consists of a ZIP compressed archive containing separate XML documents for content and styles, a .png image file for thumbnails, and directories for related attachment.
As with Microsoft Excel, XMIND workbooks may contain more than one sheet. Each sheet may include multiple topics, including one central topic, multiple main topics, and multiple floating topics, for a traditional mind map or a Fishbone chart.
